Udaipur is a glorious city with vibrant cultures and traditions as well as it is a dream escape for all the wanderers. It was founded in 1553 A.D. by Maharana Udai Singh II and is prominent for its natural destinations. Udaipur is also known as the ‘city of lakes’ which entitles you to take pleasure and relax by the lake with the backdrop of lush green mountains and amazing sky in the dusky hour. Some years ago, Udaipur was included in the list of the cities of India, which was created to promote the concept of the Smart City. A Smart City aims to foster the well-being of
the citizens and maintaining the standard of living whilst using sustainable ideas. We have been constantly working Strongly to develop the city and encourage the concept of building it a green city for a better and healthy living of the citizens. To assist the cause, the persuasion of Public Bicycle Sharing (PBS) for Udaipur with the successful collaboration of MyByk which enables the citizens and the tourists to rent a bicycle with online application and place it back at any assigned bike station. Online app-checking technology has made it convenient, and it remains no more labor-intensive when compared to the conventional method as it has an inbuilt GPS device to track each bicycle effortlessly. The target of the first 100 bicycles has been set for the current project and it would be expanded soon in bulk after observing the footprint and the outcome of the project.

The designated areas for the same consist of Chandpol Parking, Shitla Mata Chowk, near Dudh Talai, near Jagdish Temple, near Sanjay Gandhi Park, UIT cabin at Devali, PWD Parking Gulab Bagh and many more. Our idea to increase the adaptability of the citizens and the tourists towards a healthy life and lesser motor emissions. The major objectives that have been focused here is to encourage affordability, good health and being gender-neutral. The persistent efforts made by us and this idea of PBS will hopefully make it more attractive.

Unlike many of the 99 other cities that have been picked for redevelopment as smart cities in the first instance, laid-back and leisurely Udaipur may have had a head start in its tryst with modernity.
The picturesque city of seven lakes and many hills of the Aravalli Range boasts of a the population of approximately 5 lakh, relatively few vehicles, comparatively clean air and a well-earned reputation as a favored tourist destination with a rich heritage, attracting every year global and Indian tourists in numbers twice that of the city’s own population. That said, however, Udaipur, once known as ‘Venice of the East’, has to work at keeping its heritage intact during the retrofitting drive to be undertaken in the heart of the city, where many structures of historical and tourist importance exist and which are the focus of the Smart City Project.

Udaipur has strong historic built fabric along the Pichhola lake, mainly visible within the walled city, which is also its most visited part. The aim is to build upon the city‘s centuries-old history by proposing a conservation area in the walled city to ensure any development is undertaken in a sensitive manner and to use the built environment to promote the city and its identity.

The underlying philosophy of the Vision statement: Udaipur has been known as the Venice of the East for its unique setting of beautiful lakes and heritage architecture. While conserving its rich, legacy the city would also innovate and adapt to the changing global environment to remain timeless in its appeal. It would thus create an urban ecosystem that encourages the existing residents, institutions, and businesses to thrive, while also emerging as an attractive destination for new inhabitants from across the world. With this vision in mind, the following projects have been  taken up to restore the City back to its pristine glory:

Importance of the Project
 Conservation of Traditional Character of the Market–With changing trends of building construction, traditional architecture of the old city is transforming & losing its character.

 Development & Upgradation of Physical Infrastructure – With the increase in the number of people visiting these markets new infrastructure needs of the place need upgradation.

 Developing Tourist Amenities – Lacs of local and foreign tourist visiting Udaipur visit these market places. Developing new amenities for the tourist will provide pleasantly experience for tourist in the city

 Uniform development and branding of city bazaars – Creating a uniform development and providing standard designs for street furniture, Signage, etc which merge with the character and profile of the city Conservation & Development Works of Historic Gates in the Walled City of Udaipur.
